His pieces are recognized for the quality and elegance of design. Specifically, this piece stands out for clean lines following square shapes and glass thickness.
Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres is one of the most important and known porcelain factories in Europe. It is founded in the city of Vincennes in 1740 with the support of Louis XV and Madame de Pompadour. In fact, it was Madame de Pompadour who managed to be granted the real manufacturing title of porcelain (1759), being transferred in 1756 to a property of his in Sèvres.
The first manufacturing experiments were carried out by the brothers Robert and Gilles Dubois, who came from Chantilly, to compete with the productions of the porcelain of Meissen and Chantilly. By 1745 great results were obtained under the direction of Gravant marriage. He specialized in the production of Chinese porcelain, whose most interesting innovations were the colors that integrated into the funds, especially the intense blue, known as "Azul Sévres", and the use of Biscuit for small sculptures.
Until 2009, the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres was a national competence service of the French Ministry of Culture and Communication, but in 2010 the Public Establishment Sèvres, city of ceramics, was formed, thanks to the Association with the National Museum of Ceramics of Sèvres . Its mission remains the same since its foundation in the 18th century, the production of artistic objects in ceramic and glass, with traditional techniques, aimed at covering the needs of both the French government and for commercial sales. It is still active, although its production during this new century is oriented towards a more contemporary aesthetic, but always maintaining the spirit of an craft of excellence, away from industrial production.
